Further study – college

You can study for a range of qualifications at college, many of which could lead to a full degree after top-up study.

College can offer an alternative to university, with the opportunity to study a wide range of courses close to home.

Many colleges offer practical and technical courses in subjects such as digital technology, hospitality or education, and you can often choose to study part time.

Studying at a college can be a stepping stone to achieving a full degree, with foundation degrees offering a way of studying your chosen subject with more flexible entry requirements, and a smaller time commitment.

The requirements for going to college vary depending on which course you’d like to take, and courses are assessed in a range of different ways including exams, practical assessments and project work.

The length of courses varies as well, with the majority lasting for two or three years.
