Writing for Digital
Tuesday, March 27th @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, Gateshead
About this event
People write blogs and articles for digital platforms for a host of reasons: as a means of sharing learning, to establish credibility and position themselves as thought leaders or to attract visitors to their platform as part of their Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategy. Sometimes even because they enjoy the process.
As the digital world becomes ever more crowded with low-value, me-too content and attention spans become shorter and shorter, finding a voice that will cut through the noise becomes increasingly challenging. Old ways of writing – the ways most of us were taught back at school – no longer equip us for the digital age.
In this workshop, the secrets of writing for a digital audience were covered, including working out what it is you should be writing about, how to choose the best platform for your writing, the actual writing process itself, all the way through to post-publishing and how to build audience for your writing.
The workshop was a mixture of light theory, discussion and practical exercises that hopefully equipped you with everything you need to get up and running as a blogger and online influencer.
We talked about LinkedIn and how that might be the best platform to start and share your conversations around being a Gatsby ambassador.
Here’s a short video on how to get the most out of our LinkedIn content and posts.
We would really like to hear your thoughts on the workshop so that we can improve the session for future sessions.
