Higher or degree apprenticeship

Hands-on experience in the workplace, combined with a Level 4 or degree-level qualification.

Higher apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships can give you hands-on experience in your chosen career, and you’ll be able to study for a qualification at the same time.

Choosing an apprenticeship means that you can earn a salary while you study, and you get the chance to apply what you learn in the workplace.

Higher apprenticeships lead to a Level 4 qualifications or above, with most apprentices gaining an NVQ Level 4, HND, or foundation degree. Some offer the opportunity to progress to postgraduate degree level.

If you choose a degree apprenticeship, you can gain a full bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree.

Apprenticeships take between one and six years, and you can choose from a huge range of courses in areas like digital technology, health and life sciences, and catering and hospitality.
