An Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship allows you to learn while you earn. An apprenticeship is a real, paid job where you benefit from training and gain experience along the way.

There are hundreds of different apprenticeships to choose from, in a whole range of sectors and industries, including business services, manufacturing, creative industries, healthcare, and retail and sales.

An apprenticeship can take between one and six years to complete, depending on which one you choose. You’ll be assessed along the way to make sure you’re achieving the knowledge, skills and behavior to excel in your chosen career.

To become an apprentice you need to be 16 or over. Some businesses may want you to have a pass grade in GCSE Maths and English too, but that can vary depending on the employer.

Once you’ve achieved your Intermediate or Advanced Apprenticeship, you have a number of different options. You can go on to achieve a higher or degree level apprenticeship, continue your studies at university or college, or remain in the world of work full time. Your apprenticeship employer may even support you to continue your studies if you decide you’d like to remain working in the same company.
