Northumberland College STEM Centre

Northumberland College’s £2.5m STEM Centre is being used to train the next generation of engineers, scientists and technicians.

Based at the Northumberland College’s Ashington Campus, the STEM Centre provides industry standard facilities for the delivery of skills for Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Renewables, Network Engineering, Health Science and Pharmaceutical industries.

The Centre is home to specialist science and technology workshops with dedicated facilities that include a class 10,000 clean room, Digital 3D imagery equipment, nanotechnology, microscopes, specialist chemicals and fab labs where budding product designers and entrepreneurs can access the latest in digital fabrication equipment for prototyping.

The STEM Centre focuses on the application of science in industry, as well as providing a resource to support learning for 14-16s in schools. It provides full and part time provision for 16-18s and adults, including progression into HNC/D and Foundation Degree programmes.

The Centre supports the LEP’s ambitions to develop a Career College for STEM, providing learning pathways into STEM-related careers for those aged 14+.
