EU Transition
We coordinate and support the North East EU Exit Implementation Group, which brings together regional cross-sector partners to monitor the impact of the Trade & Co-operation Agreement on the North East economy.
The group looks at new opportunities and challenges emerging from post-EU Exit domestic policy, develops regional policy responses, and shares regular intelligence reports.
The group has agreed a regional statement of key messages, published evidence and prepared a range of responses to government policy processes.

North East trade and export report
We have worked with the Department for International Trade and the North East England Chamber of Commerce to publish a regional trade and export report which outlines key intelligence and evidence about North East trade, and sets out proposals to strengthen support for exporting amongst North East businesses.
This report is part of a wider Northern Powerhouse programme across the 11 Northern LEP areas. We will work with partners on the implementation of the recommendations within the report and continue to develop the supporting evidence base and detailed proposals for action.
We are using the report and the latest evidence on North East exports to shape our response to the national Export strategy, published in November 2021.

Northern Powerhouse
The North East LEP is an active partner in the NP11 partnership of Northern LEPs. You can find out more about the work of the NP11 here. here.
The Manifesto for the North was published by NP11 and other Northern leaders in 2019 and is available here.
We work collaboratively with partners across the North East, Yorkshire, and North West on strategic projects including the Northern Powerhouse Independent Economic Review and delivery programmes on, innovation, trade and investment, and energy. We work closely with Transport for the North on strategic transport and on the Northern Evidence Network.
Towards Net Zero
Partners across the North East are committed to responding to climate change and accelerating the region’s contribution to achieving Net Zero.
Our Energy for Growth programme is the focus for action to drive renewable energy generation and the decarbonisation of heat working through the North East and Yorkshire Energy Hub.
We are working with partners across the region to develop Net Zero North East to amplify collaboration across our region.
